MEET OUR HEAD COACH
(Re)Defyne Health & Performance was founded by experienced coach Mat Lane, who has called the Salisbury area home for over a decade. Drawing on a diverse background spanning education, health, sport and community development, Mat focuses on sustainable health coaching UK that fits real lives. He is passionate about helping people unlock their potential, move with confidence and overcome life's challenges.
Throughout his journey, Mat has worked as a personal trainer, Sports Science lecturer, PE teacher, sports coach, mathematics teacher, rugby player, medical industry professional, and leader of community sports programmes.
Each role has contributed valuable insights and expertise, which he has brought together to create (Re)Defyne; a platform built on the belief that meaningful transformation comes from understanding the whole person.
Having faced and overcome his own challenges, Mat understands that every individual is complex, with unique experiences, obstacles, and aspirations. His approach focuses on identifying the underlying barriers that hold people back and working collaboratively to create lasting, positive change. For many, the impact of this work is truly life-changing.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mat's commitment to helping others is deeply personal. As a father, he’s run marathons, organised fundraising days and raced Hyrox to support charitable causes, including some related to his daughter’s childhood cancer, raising thousands of pounds along the way.
This determination, compassion, and resilience continue to drive his mission today: empowering people to live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.
